kongli.sh is a non-commercial hobby project. No accounts, no ads, no trackers, no donations, no commercial activity of any kind. This page describes what limited data handling still happens and how to reach the operator.

What runs in your browser

kongli.sh is a static single-page app. Once loaded it runs entirely client-side and does not send any data back to the server. The following keys are written to your browser's localStorage to remember your preferences across visits; they never leave your device:

kongli.theme — chosen color theme (auto / light / dark)
kongli.bookmarks — syllables you bookmarked
kongli.locks — which jamo slots you locked
kongli.wrap — navigation wrap preference

These are considered strictly necessary for a service you explicitly requested (§ 25 (2) Nr. 2 TTDSG / TDDDG), so no consent banner is shown. You can clear them at any time via your browser's site-data settings.

A Service Worker caches static assets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) so the app works offline. No personal data is stored in the cache.

Hosting (GitHub Pages)

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), a subsidiary of Microsoft. When your browser requests a page, GitHub unavoidably processes connection metadata including your IP address, user agent, referrer, and timestamp in order to deliver the response and protect the service from abuse. According to GitHub, such data is retained for up to 30 days for security purposes. This processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a working, secure website).

GitHub may process this data in the United States. Transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Details: GitHub Privacy Statement.

DNS for kongli.sh is handled by Cloudflare, Inc. as authoritative nameserver only (no HTTP proxying). Cloudflare does not see visitor traffic to the site in this configuration.

kongli.sh itself does not maintain any additional server logs, analytics, cookies, fingerprinting, A/B testing, or tracking pixels.

External links

The site links out to third parties (e.g. Wiktionary via the dictionary shortcut, GitHub). Those sites have their own privacy policies and are not covered here. No resources are embedded from third parties — no Google Fonts, no YouTube, no social widgets.

Your rights under the GDPR

Since kongli.sh itself collects no personal data beyond the unavoidable connection metadata handled by GitHub, there is typically nothing to access, rectify, or erase on our side. You nonetheless have the rights set out in Art. 15–21 GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For requests, contact konglish@vreid.dev.
